A mobile X-ray inspection system will be handed over in Kyrenia tomorrow
A mobile X-ray inspection system transferred by Turkey to the TRNC will be officially handed over tomorrow in Kyrenia. The ceremony will take place at 11:30 at the Kyrenia Tourist Port, in the building of the Kyrenia Customs Department.
According to information from the ministry, the handover will be attended by Minister of Finance Özdemir Berova and Minister of Trade of the Republic of Türkiye Ömer Bolat, as well as other members of the governments. The equipment was transferred as part of cooperation between the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Türkiye and the Ministry of Finance to ensure trade security and combat smuggling.
The new mobile X-ray scanning system is intended for the rapid inspection of cargo and vehicles at ports. According to the authorities, the equipment will make it possible to speed up cargo checks and increase the effectiveness of detecting smuggled goods.
For residents of Northern Cyprus, this means strengthened security measures at ports and a potential reduction in violations of import and export regulations. It is expected that the system will be used in the operational work of customs authorities to enhance control over the flow of goods.
