“Garden of Roses” laid in Güzelyurt against violence towards women

The Soli Inner Wheel Club, with the support of the Güzelyurt municipality, organized a rose planting campaign under the slogan “Her gül bir nefes, her dikim bir gelecek” (“Every rose is a breath, every planting is a future”). The “Pink Garden” project is timed to coincide with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and aims to raise public awareness.
The event took place on a specially designated area along the road to Güzelyurt Festival Park.
The organizers emphasize that the new Pink Garden should not only add aesthetic value to the area but also serve as a living reminder of the unacceptability of violence against women. Inner Wheel participants stated that violence “cannot be justified under any circumstances” and that women are “a supporting part of society,” highlighting their determination to continue fighting for equality, safety, and respect for women’s rights.
Mayor Mahmut Özçınar, in his speech, noted the importance of such initiatives in shaping public sensitivity to the issue of violence and assured that the Güzelyurt municipality will continue to support social projects. He also expressed gratitude to all organizations and residents who contributed to the creation of the Pink Garden next to one of the city’s landmark sites — Kent Park.
