Iskele: police seize 2 kg of cannabis, suspect already in custody

In the Iskele area and at the Metehan checkpoint, police recorded two separate drug-related incidents — two men were detained.
According to police, early in the morning on the access road to the village of Kalecik (Iskele district), crime prevention officers noticed a 32-year-old man, Ü.M., who stopped his car on the roadside to pick up two suspicious packages from the ground. Upon seeing the police, he attempted to leave the area, but was later identified and detained during the investigation.
An inspection of the packages revealed a total of approximately 2 kilograms of suspected cannabis. All items were seized as evidence and the investigation is ongoing.
A separate incident was recorded at the Metehan checkpoint. Officers from the Anti-Drugs and Anti-Smuggling Directorate stopped a 26-year-old man, B.M., who was attempting to enter Northern Cyprus. During a search of his vehicle and a personal search, two hand-rolled cigarettes were found, which are also believed to contain cannabis.
The drugs were confiscated and the suspect was detained. Police investigations into both cases are ongoing.
