Indoor Market and Terminal Opened in Iskele

The official opening of a new indoor market and terminal zone took place in Iskele. The project, implemented by the municipality, covers an area of 30,000 square meters. The complex includes 4,000 square meters of enclosed space and will form part of a unified infrastructure together with the Youth Center, which is scheduled to open in May.
The project was financed from the municipality’s own funds with the support of the Development and Economic Cooperation Office of the Embassy of Turkey in Lefkoşa. Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, government representatives, members of parliament, and local authorities attended the opening ceremony.
According to Iskele Mayor Hasan Sadıkoğlu, the facility is not just a market but a modern urban space designed for year-round use and various events.
The complex provides approximately 300 parking spaces, including designated areas for buses and people with disabilities. For visitors’ convenience, 500 shopping carts, electronic scales for checking product weight, and free Wi-Fi are available.
On the opening day, visitors were given reusable bags instead of plastic ones and were treated to soup, coffee, and tea.
