A 25-year-old man has been arrested in Iskele in connection with a sexual abuse case involving his younger sister and their father. The suspect is accused of concealing evidence after becoming aware of the crimes.

According to police testimony presented in court, the man knew that his father had been sexually abusing his 21-year-old sister between October 2025 and February 4, 2026. After the case came to the attention of the authorities, the suspect allegedly hid his father’s mobile phone, an action investigators say amounted to aiding in the concealment of a crime.

The man was arrested on suspicion of acting as an accessory after the fact and brought before the court. Police stated that the investigation concerning his role has been completed and requested appropriate bail conditions.

The court ordered the suspect’s release on bail, subject to a cash guarantee of 250,000 Turkish lira and two sureties who are TRNC citizens, each signing a personal guarantee of 1 million Turkish lira.

Background of the case:

The main suspect in the case is the victim’s 49-year-old father, a business owner in Famagusta. Police allege that he repeatedly sexually assaulted his daughter over several months in a rented apartment in Iskele.

The case came to light after the young woman, with the assistance of a friend and a lawyer, filed a complaint with police. The suspect was arrested on February 6 in Famagusta, where he had reportedly been hiding and preparing to leave the country.

Police said the suspect gave a voluntary statement detailing the offences. The investigation into the case remains ongoing.
