Tonight in Yılmazköy: 12th International Folk Dance Festival and 3rd Folklore Celebration
The 12th International Folk Dance Festival and the 3rd Yılmazköy Folklore Celebration will take place tonight in Yılmazköy, with the main program starting at 20:00. The event is organized by the Cyprus Center for Folk Dance and Arts (HAD-SAM) under the auspices of the Gönyeli-Alayköy Municipality, in cooperation with the Yılmazköy Sports Club, according to the municipality.
Participants include HAD-SAM ensembles, groups from Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Lithuania and Turkey, as well as the Istanbul Folklore Club and the Alayköy Culture and Arts Association. According to the organizers, the program features performances by both international and local groups.
For children, a face-painting workshop will be available from 19:00, along with an inflatable play park. At 22:00, the Yılmazköy Sports Club will hold a tombola draw with a prize fund of 50,000 Turkish lira. For residents of Northern Cyprus, this is a family evening event with children’s entertainment and an international program; key times (19:00 – kids’ area, 20:00 – main stage, 22:00 – tombola) are important for planning attendance.
