A suspect in mosque thefts detained in Lefkoşa

Police have detained a 21-year-old man suspected of a series of thefts from two mosques in Lefkoşa.
According to a police statement, between 8 and 17 January the suspect illegally entered places of worship by forcing doors open and then deliberately breaking the locks of donation boxes. The cash inside was stolen; the exact amount of damage is being determined.
Following the receipt of complaints, police conducted an investigation during which A.W.S. (21) was identified as a suspect. He was detained and taken into custody.
The investigation is ongoing.
