78-Year-Old Woman Struck by Car in Nicosia
A serious pedestrian accident occurred on Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Avenue in Nicosia (Lefkoşa).
According to police reports, on March 10, at approximately 15:00, 24-year-old driver Ala Muhammed Hesain, operating vehicle JV 356, was traveling north in the second lane from the left when he struck 78-year-old Fatma Ceylan, who was crossing the road.
Upon impact, the woman was thrown forward and collided with a nearby parked car, license plate VM 912.
The victim sustained severe injuries. After receiving first aid at the scene, she was transported to Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital, where she was admitted to the intensive care unit.
The driver has been detained, and police are continuing their investigation.
It is noted that over the past weekend, another serious traffic accident occurred in the same area, resulting in one fatality.
