Two detained in Lefkoşa and Famagusta for drug possession
On January 10, the Anti-Narcotics and Anti-Smuggling Directorate carried out operations in Lefkoşa and Famagusta in Northern Cyprus; as a result, I.B. (male, 33) and A.K. (male, 49) were detained on suspicion of illegal possession of narcotic substances.
In Lefkoşa, a search of I.B. led to the discovery and seizure of approximately 11 grams of cocaine, about 4 grams of substances believed to be cannabis plants, as well as suspected drug traces on scales, one porcelain plate and one casino card. The suspect was detained, and the investigation is ongoing.
In Famagusta, a search of A.K.’s residence resulted in the seizure of one rolled cigarette mixed with tobacco and a substance believed to be a synthetic cannabinoid, approximately 1 gram of methamphetamine, about 10 grams of cannabis, and 37 paper fragments of various sizes that allegedly contained a synthetic cannabinoid. A.K. was also detained, and an investigation is underway.
According to Kıbrıs Postası, both detainees have been arrested, and investigations into the incidents are continuing.
