Fire at Lefkoşa Customs and Excise Department warehouse — electronics, clothing, and tobacco damaged
Early in the morning of August 28, a fire broke out in the industrial zone of Lefkoşa at a facility used as a warehouse by the Customs and Excise Department, damaging various goods. According to the Police Press Office, among the damaged items were electronic devices, stationery, clothing, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco products.
The fire was extinguished by emergency services; the cause of the fire is being investigated. No official reports have been issued yet regarding casualties or the extent of the damage.
For residents and businesses in Northern Cyprus, this may mean temporary access restrictions to the warehouse and delays in the processing of imported goods if commercial shipments were stored there. Representatives of companies whose goods may have been in the warehouse are advised to contact customs authorities and insurance companies to clarify the status of the goods and the next steps.
The investigation is ongoing; additional details will be provided as official information becomes available.
