Jubilee AKSA FOTOFEST opens in Lefkoşa, honorary awards presented to photographers

The capital hosted the awards ceremony for the winners of the 10th AKSA FOTOFEST photography competition, organized by AKSA Enerji in memory of photographer Altay Sayıl, and the opening of a large-scale photo exhibition.

After the awards were presented, guests were introduced to an exhibition of 75 works. The exhibition is being held at Saçaklı Ev and will be open to visitors until December 19 during working hours.

The competition included five categories. In the “Life in Kyrenia” category, Sabiha Garabli and Ayla Mertürk were recognized; in “Historical Image and Monuments of Kyrenia” — Besime Tanul and Pırlanta Konuksal. In the “Nature” category, awards went to Öztürk Aker and Şerif Özege; in the “Free” category — Şerif Özege and Tevfik Ulual; and in the “Sports” category — Besime Tanul and Kutlay Muazzez Halkseven.

To mark the festival’s 10th anniversary, 10 honorary awards for contributions to the development of photographic art were presented for the first time. They were awarded to the legendary photo studios Foto Deanna (Mustafa Salih Okay), Foto Şık (Mehmet Rıfat Şık), Foto Atlas (Faik Hasan Atlas), Foto Kervan (Zeki Mustafa Kervan), Foto Ümit (Ümit Ali Esinler), as well as photographers Kadir Kaba, Veysi Soyer, Hikmet Uluçam, Tevfik İleri and Ersin Taşer.
