During the landscaping of Millet Park in Lefkoşa, ammunition was discovered — it has been destroyed
In Lefkoşa, Northern Cyprus, an old piece of ammunition was found during landscaping works in Millet Park in the Metehan area, the police press office reported. The discovery was made during greening and improvement works on the site.
The police press office stated that, to ensure safety, officers closed the road section between the Metehan checkpoint and the Metehan roundabout until the arrival of bomb disposal specialists.
The police bomb disposal unit carried out the neutralization of the ammunition. After the device was rendered harmless, traffic on the closed section was restored.
The incident did not lead to long-term closures of other routes, police noted. For residents and those passing through Metehan, this meant a short-term traffic restriction on the affected road segment during the disposal operation.
