Commemorative events marking the anniversary of the 1958 resistance will take place in Lefkoşa

Commemorative ceremonies will be held in Lefkoşa to mark the 68th anniversary of the resistance of 27–28 January 1958 against the British colonial administration.
According to reports, on 27 January at 09:00 an official wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the Monument to the Fallen in Lefkoşa. After a minute of silence and ceremonial gun salutes, the flags will be raised to the sound of the anthem. A speech on the significance of the commemorative date will be delivered by Gürsel Benan, Chairman of the Association of Families of Martyrs and War Invalids.
On the same day at 09:30, a commemorative event will be held at the Küçük Kaymaklı cemetery. The program includes a minute of silence, a salute, the performance of the anthem, a prayer for the fallen, and visits to the graves.
Also on 27 January, between the evening and night prayers, a mevlid will be recited in memory of the fallen at the Yenişehir Şehitler Mosque.
