Caregiver arrested in Lefkosia for beating 90-year-old woman
In Lefkosia, a caregiver was sent to prison by court order after beating the 90-year-old woman she was caring for.
The incident occurred on March 17 in the Ortaköy area. According to police, the 53-year-old woman, while heavily intoxicated, got into a conflict with her elderly charge over food preparation and struck her in the face several times.
The victim was taken to Lefkosia State Hospital, where she received treatment and was subsequently discharged.
During the investigation, it was also revealed that the suspect had been in the country without a residence permit since January 2026. Furthermore, she had previously been involved in a similar incident.
The court ordered the woman to be held in custody for up to 30 days pending trial.
