Man Detained in Lefkoşa Over Sexual Harassment and Assault Case
A man detained on suspicion of unlawful detention, sexual harassment, and serious assault has appeared before a court in Lefkoşa.
According to a police spokesperson, the incident occurred on March 5, 2026, around 11:00 AM, in a store's warehouse located on the Near East University campus.
The suspect, identified as S.B., allegedly sexually harassed a woman, N.G.G., by grabbing her hands and dragging her between the warehouse shelves. When the woman tried to defend herself, the man punched her in the face, causing serious injuries.
Following a formal complaint, the suspect was detained on March 6. During the investigation, he provided a voluntary statement of confession, police reported. It was also noted that CCTV footage of the case exists and is yet to be examined.
After reviewing the evidence presented, Senior Judge R.K. ordered the suspect to remain in custody for three days to allow the investigation to continue.
