"The Dance of Lefkara Embroidery" Exhibition to Open in Nicosia
An enchanting exhibition titled “The Dance of Lefkara Embroidery” is set to open in Northern Cyprus, offering visitors a chance to discover the intricate motifs and techniques of the traditional Lefkara embroidery. The opening ceremony will take place on Friday, January 17, at 4:00 PM at the İsmet Vehit Güney Art Center in Nicosia.
Organized by Şenay Ekingen and the Lefkara Producers Initiative, with support from the Department of Culture under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Environment, the exhibition will showcase the artistry behind this iconic Cypriot craft. The event will be officially inaugurated by the Director of the Department of Culture, Şirin Zaimoğlu.
The exhibition will remain open to the public until Tuesday, January 21, offering a limited window for art and culture enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the beauty of Lefkara embroidery.
Adding to the event’s appeal, Şenay Ekingen’s book—featuring the history, original patterns, and techniques of Lefkara embroidery—will be available for purchase during the opening.
The exhibition pieces, carefully crafted with authentic Lefkara motifs, reflect the rich cultural heritage of the region. However, visitors should note that close-up photography of the works will not be permitted.
