Suspicious Suitcase Detonated on Roadside in Nicosia
Bomb disposal experts in Nicosia safely detonated a suspicious suitcase found abandoned on the side of the road over the weekend. Authorities initially feared the item could pose a potential threat.
According to the police press office, the alert was raised by eyewitnesses who spotted the unattended suitcase on Zahra Street. Police quickly responded, taking all necessary safety precautions.
The bomb squad from Police Headquarters carried out a controlled explosion to open the suitcase remotely.
Following the blast, it was confirmed that the suitcase was empty. Despite this, an investigation into the incident is still underway.
