On the first day of Eid al-Fitr in Northern Cyprus, 18 drunk drivers were caught
The TRNC Police announced the results of the raids conducted on the country's roads on the first day of Eid al-Fitr. 18 drunk drivers were detected.
According to the police press service, as a result of the raid conducted yesterday throughout the country, a total of 1059 vehicle drivers were checked. 109 motorists were held accountable for various traffic violations.
Among them, 69 were caught speeding, 18 will be held responsible for driving under the influence of alcohol, two individuals were talking on the phone while driving, and another driver forgot to fasten their seatbelt. 39 were held accountable for other traffic violations.
It is worth noting that Eid al-Fitr, the Muslim holiday, was celebrated in Northern Cyprus the day before. The President of the TRNC congratulated Muslims and urged drivers to be attentive on the roads and adhere to traffic regulations.
