Republic Day Reception Held at the Turkish Embassy in Nicosia
In celebration of Turkey’s Republic Day on October 29, a reception was hosted at the Turkish Embassy in Nicosia. President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Ersin Tatar and his wife, Sibel Tatar, attended the event, marking the day alongside distinguished guests and embassy representatives.
The evening began with the reading of a special message from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, addressed to Turkish embassies worldwide in honor of Republic Day. Following this, Turkish Ambassador to Nicosia, Yasin Ekrem Serim, delivered a welcoming speech.
Guests then watched a commemorative video for the 101st anniversary of the Republic, followed by the performance of the Republic’s anthem as both nations’ flags were displayed side by side. The evening closed with a performance by the Security Forces Orchestra, bringing a patriotic touch to the event.
Republic Day, a national holiday observed annually on October 29 in Turkey and the TRNC, celebrates the founding of the Turkish Republic. While 2023 marked Turkey’s centennial celebration, this year honors the Republic’s 101st anniversary.
