A large batch of counterfeit US dollars has been seized in the TRNC: police issue a warning
Over the past few days in Northern Cyprus, a significant amount of counterfeit American dollars has been seized. The police have issued a warning.
In particular, last Sunday in Kyrenia, a 36-year-old man was detained, with counterfeit banknotes totaling 7297 US dollars found on him. The fake banknotes were discovered during a search of the detainee's house in a neighboring village.
It is known that his arrest was related to the detention of two other men aged 24 and 25, who were found in possession of, 1253 counterfeit dollars. Recall that they were detained last Friday at a casino in Kyrenia.
Additionally, on Saturday in Kyrenia, another man appeared in court for attempting to use another 2000 counterfeit dollars in a different casino. In total, 40 counterfeit bills of 50 dollars each were seized from him.
During a search of his house, another 20 counterfeit bills of 100 dollars were discovered, which were confiscated as material evidence. He was remanded in custody for three days.
Also on Saturday, a fourth suspect appeared in court, who attempted to use a counterfeit 50-dollar bill at a casino. During a search of his house, the police did not find any other counterfeit money. However, he was also remanded in custody for three days.
