Construction of Yonca Junction interchange on the Kyrenia - Nicosia highway begins in the TRNC
In Northern Cyprus, the construction of an interchange on the main Nicosia-Kyrenia road and the Northern Ring Road is starting. Construction work on the Kyrenia bridge (Yonca Junction) will begin on January 7.
According to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Yonca Junction will consist of three supports on both sides and a central median. During the construction of the structure, traffic on the main Nicosia - Kyrenia road will be regulated.
On the first kilometers of the highway, traffic will be one-lane. Vehicles traveling from Kyrenia to Nicosia will be directed to the Northern Ring Road, from where they can reach central Nicosia or Gonyeli by using the Dikmen NEÜ Yonca intersection.
Drivers are advised to follow temporary road signs and directions.
The Yonca Junction cloverleaf project was approved in 2016, but its implementation has been delayed several times due to financial reasons. The completion of work is scheduled for April 1.
