TRNC plans to open autism center: Minister visits specialized facility in Ankara
During a visit to Ankara, the TRNC Minister of Labor and Social Security, Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, visited the Day Care, Rehabilitation, and Family Counseling Center for People with Autism in the Sincan district. He was accompanied by Turkey's Deputy Minister of Family and Social Services, Adil Işık.
During the visit, the delegation was provided with information regarding day care, rehabilitation programs, and family support services.
Hasipoğlu announced plans to establish a dedicated autism center in the TRNC. According to him, a building in Nicosia (Lefkoşa) has already been designated—a former ministry building will be transformed into a modern Family Counseling and Support Center for children with autism. He emphasized that the republic currently lacks a specialized center and that opening this institution is a priority for this year.
Turkey's Deputy Minister Adil Işık reported that the construction of a new social services building in the TRNC is expected to be completed in 2026. He noted that Turkey is ready to share its expertise and provide technical support in the field of autism care.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to developing cooperation in the field of social services between the two countries.
