Temperature record broken in TRNC after almost 50 years
A multi-year temperature record has been broken in Northern Cyprus. In two municipalities, the mercury rose to maximum levels.
According to the TRNC Meteorology Department, on Wednesday afternoon, temperature records for the past 49 years were broken in the Güzelyurt and Çamlıbel regions.
According to measurements, the temperature reached 39.6°C in Güzelyurt and 36.5°C in Çamlıbel. These values have entered history as the highest temperatures recorded in April in both regions.
Previous temperature records were 38°C in Güzelyurt and 34.3°C in Çamlıbel.
Thus, temperature records for a 49-year period covering 1975 to 2024 were updated in two municipalities.
It is worth reminding that earlier reports indicated that on Thursday, April 25, the air temperature in Northern Cyprus would continue to rise.
