Ombudsmen from Turkey and Azerbaijan have arrived in the TRNC
The Chief Ombudsman of Turkey, Şeref Malkoç, and the Commissioner for Human Rights of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva, have arrived in Northern Cyprus.
Accompanied by the Turkish Ambassador to Nicosia, Metin Feyzioğlu, and the Supreme Court Auditor of the TRNC, İlkan Varol, the foreign guests were received by the President of Northern Cyprus, Ersin Tatar.
President Tatar thanked the human rights commissioners for their visit and expressed satisfaction with the recent cooperation between the Republic of Turkey, Azerbaijan, and the TRNC under the concept of "one nation, three states," as well as the establishment of a trilateral inter-parliamentary friendship group.
Ombudsman Şeref Malkoç of Turkey noted that they, along with colleagues from Azerbaijan and the TRNC, had long sought to create a Union of Ombudsmen of Turkic States. Eventually, Northern Cyprus became one of the founders of such a union, which was established two years ago.
The Commissioner for Human Rights of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva, remarked that this was her first visit to the TRNC. The Ombudsman also added that this year, Azerbaijan will host COP 29 (UN Climate Change Conference), which expects 70,000 participants, and invited İlkan Varol to participate in this forum.
After the speeches, gifts were presented to the meeting participants.
