New Vehicle Registration Fees Introduced in Northern Cyprus
Northern Cyprus has introduced a new vehicle registration and driver’s license fee system, which is now based on vehicle weight.
The “Regulation on the Revision of Fees for Motor Vehicle Registration, Licensing, and Driver's Licenses” has been published in the Official Gazette and is officially in effect. The updated fee structure applies to all vehicles and varies depending on their weight.
New Registration Fees
For petrol-powered vehicles:
- Up to 1,016 kg – 1.50 TL per kg
- 1,017–1,270 kg – 2.60 TL per kg
- 1,271–1,524 kg – 6.30 TL per kg
- Over 1,524 kg – 9 TL per kg
For vehicles using other fuels:
- Up to 1,016 kg – 2.17 TL per kg
- 1,017–1,270 kg – 3.83 TL per kg
- 1,271–1,524 kg – 9.62 TL per kg
- Over 1,524 kg – 13.40 TL per kg
In addition to these changes, new fees for obtaining a driver’s license were also introduced earlier this year.
