In January, beans became more expensive and lottery tickets became cheaper in Northern Cyprus
The Statistical Institute of the TRNC announced the inflation rate in the country for January 2024. It amounted to 3.84%.
According to the research of the Statistical Institute of the TRNC, the overall consumer price index change was 3.84% compared to December and 85.81% compared to January 2023.
The greatest price increase compared to the previous month was recorded in the main category "Miscellaneous goods and services" - 11.42%.
In the category "Food and non-alcoholic beverages," the increase was 10.09%, in the "Health" section - 8.27%, in the group "Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels" - 5.80%, and in "Furniture, household appliances, and home care services" - 5.14%.
Alcoholic beverages and tobacco products became 3.78% more expensive, transportation expenses increased by 2.15%, education by 1.49%, and communication became 1.47% more expensive compared to the previous month. Prices increased for 580 items included in the index, while the cost of 63 items decreased.
The most significant price increases for the month were for beans by 221.40% and peas by 115.57%, and veterinary fees increased by 79.26%.
In the list of cheaper goods and services were lottery tickets (price decreased by 50%), broccoli (38.28%), and artichokes (34.48%).
