Power outages will occur in many areas of Northern Cyprus today
The Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority announced that there will be power outages today in many areas of Nicosia, Kyrenia, and Güzelyurt.
According to the institution’s statement, some areas will be without electricity from 18:00 until approximately 19:30 due to fault repair work on a high-voltage line.
Main areas that will be affected by the power outage:
- Nicosia – Kyrenia line and its surroundings: Bogazköy village, Bogaz junction, Hediyeem Su, St. Hilarion Street, GKK Headquarters, Ağırdağ, Asok villas, Yukarı Dikmen and its surroundings, Taşkent, Güngör and its quarries, Dağyolu, Pınarbaşı, Kömürcü.
- Kyrenia center and its surroundings: Kyrenia Police Department, Ciklos, Doğanköy, Kyrenia Marina, harbor and bazaar areas, Dome, Rocks, Colony, surroundings of Savoy Hotel, Akpınar patisserie area, July 20 Stadium, surroundings of GAU, Zeytinlik, Koğlu area, Jasmine Court, Patara plot, Ship Hotel, Topset Hotel, Karaman (Karmi), Edremit, Hideaway Club, Meriç Eryolcu plot, Kyrenia Teachers’ House, Akçiçek Hospital and Kyrenia social housing.
- Güzelyurt and surroundings: Gürpınar, Yılmazköy, Serhatköy, Gayretköy, Şahinler, Mevlevi, Türkeli, Alayköy, Serhatköy water pumping station, facilities between Türkeli junction and Zet-Karting, Metehan border gate, and some sections of the Nicosia-Güzelyurt main road.
KIB-TEK stated that electricity supply may be restored earlier or later than the announced time depending on the progress of the work. Therefore, citizens should act as if the power supply is always connected.
The authorities apologized for the inconvenience and urged people to take the necessary measures to prevent local hardship.
