On the second day of Eid al-Fitr, the TRNC police caught 8 more drunk drivers on the roads than on the first day
The TRNC police summarized the raids conducted on the country's roads on the second day of Eid al-Fitr. It was found that there were 8 more drunk drivers than on the first day of the holiday.
According to the police spokesperson, as a result of the raids conducted throughout the country on April 11, 1466 drivers were checked. 217 individuals were held accountable for various violations.
Among them, there were 104 cases of speeding, 26 cases of driving under the influence of alcohol, five people driving without licenses and insurance, another five talking on the phone while driving, and two forgetting to fasten their seatbelts. Additionally, one illegal taxi driver transporting passengers without a license was identified. Other drivers were fined for different traffic violations.
Criminal cases have been initiated against the violators. Five drivers have already been arrested. 27 vehicles have been prohibited from operation.
It's worth noting that two accidents caused by drunk drivers occurred on the same street in Famagusta last night.
As a reminder, on the first day of Eid al-Fitr, the police caught 18 individuals driving under the influence of alcohol.
