11 Fires and 16 Special Service Calls in Northern Cyprus Over One Week
In the past week, Northern Cyprus recorded 11 fires and 16 special service calls by the fire department. This was reported by the TRNC Fire Department.
According to the department, the total material damage from the fires amounted to 2,780,000 Turkish Liras.
The report listed the likely causes of the fires: electrical short circuits, overheating of electrical sockets, arson, unextinguished cigarette butts, and furniture igniting from an active electric heater.
The special service calls included: taking fire prevention measures; rescuing cats stuck between metal grates and in car engine compartments; freeing people trapped in elevators; rescuing a dog that fell into a well; releasing a child locked in a car; rescuing a person trapped under a furnace during forklift loading; providing fire safety training; ensuring road safety; extricating victims of road traffic accidents; and transporting deceased persons to the hospital for forensic investigation.
