64 Traffic Accidents Reported in Northern Cyprus This Week, 23 Injured

Between February 9 and 15, a total of 64 road traffic accidents were recorded in Northern Cyprus, according to the Police General Directorate.

Out of the total accidents, 16 resulted in injuries, while 48 caused only property damage. A total of 23 people were injured. The total cost of the damage is estimated at 4,840,200 Turkish Liras.

The primary causes of the accidents were speeding (20 cases), failure to yield at intersections (18), careless driving (10), and following too closely (8). The highest number of accidents occurred in Kyrenia (21), followed by Nicosia (18), Famagusta (11), Güzelyurt (10), and İskele (4).

During inspections in the same period, police issued 2,269 fines, impounded 249 vehicles, and detained 12 drivers. The most frequent violations were speeding (673 cases), driving without a seat belt (231), and operating an unregistered vehicle (220).
