86 Road Traffic Accidents Occurred in Northern Cyprus Over the Week
During the past week, 86 road traffic accidents occurred in Northern Cyprus. One person died, and 19 others were injured.
According to the police press release, 28 accidents during the week were due to speeding, 17 due to crossing intersections without stopping, 15 due to reckless driving, and 12 due to failure to maintain distance. Another 14 accidents occurred for other reasons.
As a result of 15 accidents that resulted in injuries, 19 people were injured. Additionally, 70 traffic incidents led to material damage. The total damage amount reached 7 million 160 thousand Turkish liras.
The highest number of accidents, 31, occurred in Kyrenia. 29 accidents happened in Nicosia, 16 in Famagusta, 7 in Guzelyurt, and 3 in Iskele.
During inspections across the country, 15,915 vehicles were stopped, and 3,924 violators were recorded.
During the inspections, the movement of 301 vehicles was prohibited, and 22 drivers were arrested.
