Six Fires and 31 Emergencies in Northern Cyprus Over the Past Week
Over the past week, Northern Cyprus has faced six fires and 31 emergency incidents that required the intervention of rescue teams. According to the latest weekly report from the Police Department, the total damage caused by the fires amounted to 62,300 Turkish Lira.
The fires were likely caused by a variety of factors, including discarded, unextinguished cigarette butts that set fire to a trash bin and dry grass, campfires lit by unknown individuals, an overloaded electrical panel, and a gas bottle igniting during roof insulation work.
In addition to battling the fires, firefighters were also called upon to rescue people trapped in vehicles following accidents, as well as those stuck in elevators. They also saved cats that were stranded on rooftops and in puddles of water.
