Fire Damage in Northern Cyprus Surpasses 2.6 Million TL in One Week
In the past week, Northern Cyprus recorded 11 fires and 32 emergency incidents requiring rescue operations.
According to the weekly report issued by the Police General Directorate, the total damage caused by the fires amounted to 2,615,000 Turkish lira.
The probable causes of the fires included electrical short circuits, oil leaks, electrical equipment malfunctions, and gasoline ignited while lighting wood stoves.
A breakdown of the fire incidents is as follows:
- Nicosia: 4 fires
- Vadili: 3 fires
- Famagusta: 2 fires
- Güzelyurt and Çağlayan: 1 fire each
Regarding the emergency incidents:
- Nicosia: 14 incidents
- Kyrenia: 9 incidents
- Famagusta: 4 incidents
- İskele: 3 incidents
- Güzelyurt and Yeşilköy: 1 incident each
In addition to firefighting operations, emergency responders successfully carried out various rescue missions, including saving a cat stranded on a building rooftop and assisting individuals trapped in an elevator and a vehicle following a traffic accident.
