Property Owner Arrested in Cyprus Released on Bail

The District Court in Nicosia has released an Israeli citizen on bail after he was accused of "illegally occupying property owned by Greek Cypriots" located in the northern part of the island. The trial is scheduled to begin on October 8. Until then, he is prohibited from visiting areas outside the control of the Republic of Cyprus.

The court set bail at €92,000 as a condition for his release. Additionally, the man must sign a personal guarantee of €50,000 and pay €9,000 in cash.

His wife, a Cypriot citizen, has been appointed as a guarantor, providing proof of ownership of a car valued at €33,000. The Israeli national must also surrender all his travel documents to the police.

His name will be added to the list of persons subject to arrest, and he is required to report to the Pissouri police station every day between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM.

The 25-year-old Israeli citizen was arrested on August 14 at Paphos Airport, where he was planning to fly to another European country. After his arrest, he was held in custody for five days.

According to his lawyer, the 25-year-old has been living in Cyprus with his wife for the past two years. He previously applied for a residence permit, which is scheduled to be reviewed on November 4.
