Ziya Öztürkler Issues Message in Honor of Çanakkale Victory

In Northern Cyprus, Speaker of the Parliament Ziya Öztürkler published a message on March 18 regarding the anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs' Memorial Day. In it, he expressed respect, gratitude, and prayers in memory of those who gave their lives for the motherland, and also honored the memory of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms.

In his message, Öztürkler described Çanakkale as a symbol of the incomparable resilience of the Turkish people in the struggle for independence and freedom. According to him, this feat became a source of pride and inspiration for Turkish Cypriots as well.

The text notes that the heroism shown in Çanakkale illuminated the struggle of Turkish Cypriots to preserve their existence; he cited the events in Küçük Erenköy as an example of similar resilience. The Speaker of the Parliament linked the feat of Turkish soldiers in Çanakkale with the efforts of Turks in Cyprus, noting that they are links in the same chain.

Öztürkler emphasized that March 18 is not only a day to remember martyrs but also an occasion to once again realize the spirit of independence. He stated that the memory of the martyrs, as well as the legacy of Atatürk and his comrades, will forever remain in the hearts of Turkish Cypriots.
