Description

The name of Buffavento Castle has Italian origins, but its exact meaning is difficult to specify. "Castle of Seven Winds," "Resisting the Winds," "Protection from Gusty Winds" — these and many other interpretations of the castle’s name hint at the natural characteristics prevailing in the area. Indeed, for a fortress built on steep mountains at an altitude of 940 meters above sea level, the wind remains a faithful companion to this day.
