The ancient city of Salamis (or Salamin)
Description
A unique monument of what was once the capital of Cyprus and one of the richest cities in the world is now one of the island's most remarkable attractions. Salamis, or Salamin, is located on the eastern coast, six kilometers from the city of Famagusta. The early history of the city reaches far into the past, and the exact date of the first settlers remains unknown. It is believed to have been founded during the Bronze Age, when various tribes migrated from Anatolia and what is now Greece.
