Despite its unrecognized status, obtaining a Schengen visa in Northern Cyprus is possible. Applications are processed by the Visa Section of the German Embassy in Nicosia (Visa Application Desk) if the main destination country is Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Iceland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, or Norway.
Other consulates also accept applications, for example, the Embassy of Italy in Nicosia. Application procedures and eligible categories may change, so check the official websites for the most up-to-date requirements before applying.

Main Application Requirements
- Legal residence in TRNC: TRNC ID, residence permit (Ikamet), or another document confirming legal status is required.
- Personal appearance: biometric data (fingerprints) must be submitted in person.
- Insurance: travel insurance for Schengen countries covering at least €30,000, valid until the return date. Cost starts from €20.
Documents for a Schengen Visa
The following documents are usually required:
- Completed application form (VIDEX online form)
- Passport + copies of previous visas
- Proof of legal residence in TRNC (Ikamet or TRNC ID)
- Photo 3.5×4.5 cm
- Flight and hotel bookings or invitation from relatives/partners
- Bank statement for 6 months, income certificate, or sponsorship letter
- Proof of address in TRNC (Ikametgâh, rental agreement, title)
- Police certificates from TRNC (Conviction Record and Entry/Exit)
- Family documents (marriage certificates, children’s birth certificates — if applicable)
- Student certificates and transcript (for students)
Important: the consulate may request additional documents depending on the destination country.

Application processing time is about 20–30 working days. It is recommended to submit documents 3 months before the trip.
