Emily Makis in Cyprus! - Drum&Bass Take Over at Guaba Beach Bar

Hi everyone! The DDC Family is proud to announce the hottest Drum&Bass event of this summer! On Sunday, August 17th, we’re taking over Limassol’s legendary Guaba Beach Bar!

To make it even more special, we’re honored to invite Emily Makis to Cyprus for the very first time!

2023 marked a breakthrough year for Emily Makis. Fresh off winning “Best Vocalist” at the Drum&Bass Awards and “Best Track” at the Youth Music Awards, she’s been making waves. Her collaboration on the groundbreaking track “Phoneline” with Pola & Bryson and co-writing credits alongside Becky Hill for the massive hit “Disconnect” by Drum&Bass heavyweights Chase & Status have cemented her as one of the UK underground scene’s most recognizable vocalists.

Now she’s reaching even greater heights with her latest release, “My Type.” Emily’s signature attitude, energy, and vocal range perfectly complement wild Drum&Bass productions, creating an electrifying sonic experience.

DJ Mag described her voice as “heavenly” and “enthralling,” and her emotive vocal lines can be heard on tracks from the freshest talents in electronic music.

Last year proved very fruitful for this self-confessed studio gremlin — her recent feature on K Motionz’s “High Note” hit number 1 in the Beatport Drum and Bass Top 100. Emily’s dark, perceptive writing has earned support from BBC Radio 1 and 1XTRA, approaching 6 million streams with Monrroe’s “Never Too Old,” featured on the iconic “15 Years of Shogun Audio” album alongside Friction and Technimatic.

For those who’ve never heard of Emily, we are even more proud that an artist of Cypriot origin has made it so high in the worldwide Drum&Bass scene, and we’re honored to welcome her back home.

A few words about the event hosts: we are Dubstep and Drum&Bass Cyprus, currently known as DDC Family. Founded as a Facebook group in 2015 with the mission to unite Dubstep and Drum&Bass enthusiasts across Cyprus — fans, DJs, and event organizers — since there was no scene.

Ten years later, DDC Family is a strong, active crew that took control of the scene. Over 70 events hosted across major cities, clubs, bars, beaches, and mountains of our beloved island. We’ve invited countless well-known international dubstep and drum&bass artists, participated in various Cyprus festivals, music events, and charity events.

Today we can confidently say Dubstep and Drum&Bass are alive and thriving underground, and we’re nowhere near stopping — with Emily Makis’s arrival, we’re raising the bar once again!
