Hailstorms Expected in Cyprus on May 1
The Department of Meteorology of the Republic of Cyprus has issued a weather update for Thursday, May 1, warning of unstable conditions across the island due to a moderate low-pressure system.
The day will begin with partly cloudy skies and occasional showers. By the afternoon, thunderstorms are expected, especially in the mountains and inland areas—and hail is possible during the storms. Fine dust may be present in the atmosphere during the morning hours. The sea will be slightly rough.
Daytime temperatures are forecast to reach around 24°C inland, 21–23°C along the coasts, and 14°C in the mountains.
Tonight will be partly cloudy with a chance of isolated showers, mainly in the western and southern regions. Overnight temperatures will drop to around 12°C inland, 14°C along the coasts, and just 4°C in the mountains.
Looking ahead to Friday and the weekend, the weather will generally be clear. However, localised showers and thunderstorms are likely in the afternoon, again mainly affecting mountainous and inland areas. Hail may accompany the storms.
Temperatures will remain at similar levels, slightly below the seasonal average.
