23 November: official opening of the Municipality of Nicosia’s Christmas events
The Municipality of Nicosia in Cyprus announced that the official opening of the Christmas events will take place on Sunday, 23 November, at Eleftheria Square, with the lighting of the Christmas tree and a large concert program featuring Stavento and Ivi Adamou, according to a press release issued by the municipality following a press conference on Friday.
The press conference was attended by the Mayor of Nicosia, Charalambos Pruntzos, the Chair of the Cultural Committee, Leonie Orfanidou, and the municipality’s cultural officer, Maria Petsa, who presented the content of the official program of events.
The municipality’s statement notes that the city is preparing an updated and rich program with musical and light installations, as well as family and community activities. The mayor emphasized the goal of making Nicosia open, bright, and lively, providing space for families, young people, and visitors.
The festive program also includes local events in various areas: in Engomi, the Engomi Christmas Fest and the lighting of the tree will take place on 29 November in cooperation with the Engomi shopping center; in Agios Dometios, the Agios Dometios Christmas Fest and the lighting of the tree will take place on 7 December near the Agios Dometios chapel; on 19 December in Aglantzia, the official illumination is planned in Spyros Kyprianou Park with musical and children’s activities.
