A 28-year-old motorcyclist from Ukraine is in critical condition after an accident on the old Dromolaxia–Larnaca road.
According to the police, at around 07:15 on Friday morning, the man was riding a high-powered motorcycle on Alkionidon Street (Aradippou) and attempted to overtake a truck on the right as it was turning right to enter the main road. During the manoeuvre, the truck’s trailer struck the motorcycle, causing the rider to sustain severe injuries.
The injured man was taken to Larnaca Hospital, where he underwent surgery due to serious internal injuries; his condition is described as critical. The motorcycle was heavily damaged. A helmet was found at the scene, but it is not yet clear whether the motorcyclist was wearing it at the moment of impact.
The investigation is being conducted by the Larnaca Traffic Department.
