Antonis Katsantonis Breaks His Own Cyprus U20 60m Record

On February 14, 2026, at an indoor athletics competition in Peania, 18-year-old sprinter Antonis Katsantonis delivered a brilliant performance in the 60-meter race.
The young athlete finished with a time of 6.69 seconds, breaking his own Cyprus record for athletes under 20 (previously 6.72 seconds, also set by him on January 24 this year in Peania).
With this time, Katsantonis moved up to 4th place on the all-time list of Cyprus indoor 60m performances, behind only legendary sprinters:
- Yiannis Zisimidis — 6.58
- Aninos Markullidis — 6.61
- Prodromos (Makis) Katsantonis — 6.64
- Antonis Katsantonis — 6.69
- Panagiotis Ioannou — 6.71
Antonis is the son of the renowned Cypriot sprinter Prodromos (Makis) Katsantonis, and judging by the results, he continues the family tradition at the highest level.
Notably, last season the athlete played as a goalkeeper in the academy of the Greek club Olympiacos FC, but this year he has focused entirely on athletics.
Experts already consider him one of the most promising talents in Cypriot sprinting in recent years.
