Citroën C3 and DS3 vehicles may be recalled by the manufacturer due to faulty airbags.
The Department of Road Transport announced that it has contacted the owners of seven Citroën C3 and DS3 vehicles (models from 2008–2019), which are being recalled due to defective Takata airbags.
The purpose of the notice was to immediately inform the owners about the safety risk and remind them to schedule a service appointment to replace the faulty airbags. Until this replacement is carried out, the affected vehicles are advised not to be used.
"This is an issue that the dealer has repeatedly highlighted, but the faulty airbags have still not been replaced," the statement emphasized.
Although the manufacturer has not yet classified the specific vehicles as subject to recall, this may change in the near future given recent fatal accidents in France.
The TOM has requested assistance from the Permanent Representation of Cyprus to the EU to obtain further information from the French authorities.
"The Department of Road Transport is closely monitoring the situation and cooperating with all relevant authorities to ensure the safety of citizens," the statement said.
