More than 2,000 police officers ensure security for parliamentary elections in Cyprus

Security measures have been tightened in Cyprus in connection with the parliamentary elections. More than 2,000 police officers have been deployed to maintain order and ensure the smooth conduct of the vote across the country.

Since early morning, a crisis management center has been operating in Nicosia, coordinating the actions of law enforcement agencies at the national level. At the same time, regional operational centers are functioning in other cities on the island.

According to the Police Headquarters Communications Branch, special plans were prepared in advance and cover both monitoring the electoral process and maintaining public order near polling stations and in public places.

Police officers are present at all polling stations, ensuring the safety of voters and members of election commissions. In addition, mobile patrols are operating throughout the country, monitoring the situation and responding promptly to possible incidents.

The police stressed that the main goal of the operation is to ensure that the elections are held calmly, in an orderly manner, and without violations. At this stage, voting is proceeding normally.
