Cypriot MP at the center of a scandal over domestic violence allegations

A public outcry is unfolding in Cyprus around MP Nikos Sikas, who has been accused of using violence against his partner. The information has triggered a wide public response and become the subject of political debate.
Against the backdrop of the allegations, government representative Dimitriou issued a strong statement, stressing that a zero-tolerance policy must apply to all forms of violence, regardless of the status or position of those involved. He noted that such cases undermine trust in state institutions and require a transparent investigation.
As of now, no official conclusions of the proceedings have been published. The circumstances of the case continue to be examined by the competent authorities.
