The road from Nicosia to Troodos will be reduced to 20 minutes
In the Republic of Cyprus, construction continues on the four-lane Astromeritis–Evrychou highway. The 11-kilometer road is planned to be completed ahead of schedule, by the end of 2024.
According to local media, after the completion of the new road, the travel time from Nicosia to Troodos will be reduced to 20 minutes. As part of this extensive project, a bridge with a length of 750 meters and a height of 25 meters will be constructed over the Elia River.
The project for the four-lane highway was presented on September 8, 2022, at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia.
The total cost of the project is estimated at 74 million euros, with approximately 30 million allocated for the construction of the bridge. The original plan was to complete the road construction in three years.
It is expected that this transportation route will improve the accessibility of mountainous areas and their connection to cities. Additionally, it will enhance road safety and contribute to the implementation of the national strategy in mountainous regions.
