Two British Women Arrested for Cigarette Smuggling at Paphos Airport
Two British women were arrested at Paphos Airport after attempting to smuggle a large quantity of cigarettes out of the country.
According to the Customs Department, airport officers found a total of 70 cartons of cigarettes and 402 packs of untaxed tobacco in the women's luggage. The tobacco products were missing the mandatory health warnings in Greek and Turkish, a clear sign that they were illegally imported.
Customs officers seized both the tobacco and the women’s luggage. The suspects were taken into custody, and the Paphos District Court has ordered them to remain in detention for four days while the investigation continues.
