The Bicommunal Youth Working Group in Cyprus has officially held its first meeting, during which the group’s composition was announced.

Comprised of young activists, volunteers, and representatives from various organizations, the group was formed to strengthen dialogue between Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot youth. Its primary aim is to express shared perspectives in an inclusive manner and to contribute constructively to the peace process through proposals submitted to the Youth Technical Committee.

The initiative was launched by the Independent Youth Association. The group includes Coordinator Nejdet Yulaf, Deputy Coordinator Izgü Özçınar, 11 members representing both communities, as well as youth representatives from major political parties and student unions.

The Association emphasized that it seeks to develop advocacy tools to ensure the meaningful participation of young people from all sectors of society in decision-making processes, and to promote broader civil society representation.
