Cypriot MEP Fydias Panayiotou has become the subject of an EU prosecutor investigation

An investigation has been launched by the European Union Prosecutor's Office regarding Cypriot MEP and well-known blogger Phidias Panayiotou.
According to the publication, about two months ago a complaint was filed with the EU Anti-Corruption Unit, alleging that Panayiotou used EU funds for personal purposes. After a preliminary review, the materials were transferred to the EU Prosecutor's Office, which initiated an official investigation.
According to the complaint:
- Panayiotou allegedly rented a villa in Limassol costing 5–6 thousand euros per month
- The property was registered as a parliamentary office
- However, according to the complainants, the villa was used to host parties
- Certain evidence was provided to support this claim
Phidias Panayiotou himself stated that he will release a video in the coming days commenting on the allegations against him.
So far, the EU Prosecutor's Office has not released any official conclusions or indictments.
